A Card too.

I forgot about this one !! Made this last night when I found a dinosaur on the Paper Dolls cart.I lifted this idea from one of the new carts that are due out soon called Elegant Cakes. There's some lovely images on the cart which is coming out for the new cake cricut but the images ( lots of flourishes amongst a lot of others) will also be ideal for papercraft, be it scrapbooking or card making

Retreat LO's

At last I have got round to finishing the odd bits than needed doing on these LO's that we made at the recent Sarah's Card Retreat.
The first one was a lovely messy class by Lou, tearing & inking everything in sight, love the idea of the ribbled strip across the bottom.

The second one by Jen was also a fab class, gorgeous papers & a little book on the LO, ideal for multi photos events. I haven't stuck my photos of a holiday in Lake Garda yet.......I need to find them first !!!

The third is one of my favourites, all girly & pretty colours. This one was by Rachael E. I think this LO colour wise, was made for this photo of Jack at a family BBQ surrounded by girls ( his cousins ) in pink !!

Just adding this one too. I bought a page kit at the retreat, loved the paper as it was so vibrant & colourful, just the thing for this photo of Carys & family in Florida 18 months ago.

Just Cards today

Had bits of paper left over from the last LO to clear away and I also found a rocket on the Indie Art Cricut Cart while was looking for another image. I've had this cart so long and I was quite surprised at what was on it as I think I've only ever used it the once. I get a bit stuck for boys birthday cards and the left over paper suited this so well.
Another couple of female cards to put into stock. I had a delivery of three glimmer mist bottles this morning so I thought I would try them out on one of them. Was quite pleased with the results. I laid a punched butterfly and used it as a mask to get the top butterfly image. You can't see it that well in the photo but the card has a nice glimmer sheen to it.
Third card was from left over pp from one of the retreat classes and just added a few primas to finish it off.

Challenge to use Old Stash

There's a challenge over at Sarah's Cards Blog to use some of your old stash. I could have done quite a few if not a few hundred LO's with the amount of old stash I've got. LOL.
I can remember buying these papers but how long ago it's anyones guess. I have no idea who's papers they are as there's no name on them. The grommets I've had since I went to the US two years ago. As for the chipboard stars, they're probably about 3 years old if not older !
It's a school photo of Jack taken last October at the start of year one....he looks so serious...you don't get many photo smiles from Jack unfortunately.

Wow, two posts in one day !!

Had another cutting session today with my March Kit. I was inspired to use the black from an LO that Rachael did for the booklet thatcomes with te kit of LO's and cards made by Sarah's Design Team.
This is my version of using the black card. It's not very often I use Black as a background but I think this looks quite dramatic. Never done so much cutting in my life though, thought I was never going to come to an end cutting those bottom flowers. I cut the title on my cricut using Make-the-Cut........yes I gave in and purchased this in the end !!!
Off to Luton now to watch the girlies dancing :)

Ist LO from March Kit.

I did tell you yesterday how fab this kit was so here's the first LO using the lush goodies. I'm really please with how this turned out.
The beauty of buying a kit is that you get papers that I wouldn't normally buy if the choice was entirely up to me. I don't think I would have bought these myself, purely because I would be stuck with what to do with them, they're so so patterned if you know what I mean. So it was quite a challenge for me to cut up such beautiful papers. I'm now not so frightened of the other sheets that are left lol!!
I even cut some up to make the paper flowers that I saw somewhere over the net but can't remember where now. So easy to make but quite effective I think. I also got the inspiration of punching holes in the brown paper on the left from the LO we did at the retreat which was ones of Rachael's ( relliot on UKS ). Will post that one when I get round to putting the title on !

Cards from Scraps

I'm pleased to say that my March kit from Sarah's arrived yesterday and it's lush !! full of Prima Marketing pp's. While I was waiting....not that I didn't have any stash to be getting on with something else mind..... I made a few cards from the bits that was left on my desk after the previous LO's I posted yesterday. Surprising what you can make out of what otherwise would be going into the bin !!!
I'll put these in the card box I posted a couple of days ago......nice pressie for aomeone don't you think and it will look nice on the stall !!
The stamp I used is Party Girl by Wild Rose Studios. I needed some images that wasn't too cutie. I think this fits the bill for adult ladies.Ha, reminds me a bit of one of my daughter !!!

Sarah's Cards Kit LO's

Well the March Kits are out now and I'm waiting with everything crossed that the postman will knock on the door any minute now with my kit. He should have been here yesterday but you all know what RM is like.A bit hit & miss with parcels I find but my postman is very reliable but can only deliver what they've given him at the sorting office. Anyhow, I thought I had better make a dent in the February's kit before the new one arrives. The whole point of subbing to a kit was that I would get to use things rather than hoard them and let them pile up.......I've got enough of a pile of stash without adding to it!!!
This is what I've made so far with the kit.

A cute little box that I'll make some cards to go in it, I can put this on my stall at the craft fair in June. I'll wait a few days before I make the cards though to see what bits I have left over. I hate cutting into a nice 12 x 12 piece of paper to make cards, such a waste I think !

A gorgeous photo of Emily & Molly taken by Cheryl UK of Feelgoodphotos.com in November. I changed this to black & white for this LO as they were dressed in bright red cardies....hardly a colour to go with the lovely deep " peach/apricot" of some of the cardstock & papers was it ?

I absolutely love this photo of Emily, again taken by Cheryl......she seems to have this knack of catching people exactly how they are somehow. I can't wait to go on my second " Bootcamp" week-end with her in May.
I have used a few extra bits from my stash on this LO mainly the prima journal spot, the lovely flowered brown trim, I think it's Maya Road, and a bling flourish and the date spot that I bought from Sarah's shop at the retreat.

I'm off to wait for the postman and unless I get carried away with the new Kit I have every intention today of finishing off the LO's I made at the retreat. There's only a few bits I need to finish off really but I keep getting sidetracked !!!.
I also need to go to Tesco........in my new car......I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to find it again in the car park, there are an awful lot of silver cars in there normally, so wish me luck !!

A Quick Update

As the title says this is just a quick posting as I'm just on my way to pick up my brand new car.......whoo hooo! but it's raining and it will now get wet :(

Anyhow more about that later.
Here's an LO that I put together yesterday using some " had for months" Prima Mommy & Me paper. The final photo of Molly when she was a photographers model last July.

I'll be back later to tell you what I think of my new car and to wipe my tears away after saying goodbye to my old one !!

Mini Book from the Retreat

One of the classes we had at the retreat was to make a Mini Book taught by Cathy Windsor. We used various patterned papers by Pink Paisley Cupid Collection together with an Acrylic Bracket Book by Fancy Pants Designs.
I decided to use photographs of my grandsons to make this one and had a light bulb moment when I saw the kind of book it was. I decided to give it to my daughter from the boys for Mothers Day. One problem about that was it meant I needed to do two in order to give my other daughter one from my grand-daughters.
This is the first book all decorated & finished

Sarah's Cards Retreat Layouts

Finally I have taken a couple of photos of the LO's I've finished so far from the retreat.
This one is from Sarah Palmers Class.I had just the right photos for this one so it's just like the instructions apart from the " so cute" title. You could have used two separate LO's but I chose to end up with a double LO of the same event. There were various techniques used, two of them being painting & sewing. Although I stamped my title rather than sew it (lazy me). I liked the idea of dipping a plastic beaker into the paint and stamping the white circles on kraft card. I've never done a 8½" x 11" LO before and I wasn't sure about it at all! I have enough trouble adjusting things to an 8 x 8 LO as I normally scrap 12 x 12 but at least it's still a square one. Well I needn't have worried as I just love this size and I can see me making a few more of them in the future. On the plus side you can scan them which saves faffing about with the camera but on the minus side, I don't have that size albums at the moment.....Oh dear can see another shopping trip coming up now !!.

This one was Lianne's " Tree of Life Class" absolutley loved this class. I don't normally hit the right notes when I try and do a " white space" LO, they never seem quite right somehow but I was thrilled with this one, the photo helped too as it's a beautiful photo of Molly taken by Cheryl from Feelgoodphotos.com in November of last year.
The tree was cut out of the template that was supplied and I never knew you could use so many journalling cards on one LO.....don't they look fab all layered?

As well as the classes we also had some time for cropping, this is one LO that I made after class on the Friday night....well the only one I made all over the week-end really! I just dithered between the Saturday classes getting things ready for the next class to be honest. I don't do this cropping on the move lark but I could get used to it pretty quick if I had a week-end like the last one to enjoy.

Need to get back to my fab mini book that Cathy taught now, finish the one on the go and then make another by Sunday as they're Mother's day gifts to both DD's from the children.

A fab week-end

Well the title says it all really! Last Friday I drove up to Warrington to spend the week-end with 70 other like minded ( scrappers) people. The retreat was organized by Sarah's Cards Ltd, here's the link to Sarah's website here

It was an absolutely fantastic week-end. great Hotel, amazing classes, it was so well organized and I met so many lovely friendly people, all but one of them I had only" talked" to them on line through UKS. All in all a great week-end and I can't wait until Sarah announces the next one.
Here's a few photos I took.
I've been waiting to meet Tracy for nearly 5 years and it was lovely to meet her in person after all this time. She's so lovely.

This is Sam who looked after me all week-end together with Susie

Eileen another lady from UKS who judging by this photo has now moved from being a Doctor to being a Surgeon with a scalpel at the ready !!!

Tracy & Sarah having a little well deserved break !

Sarah having a little chin wag with one of the ladies

A few photos of the crop room in action and the wondersul shop that Sarah set up for us all.

and last but not least the amazing Design Team who taught 6 fantastic classes.

When I've taken photos of the LO's that we made in the classes, (I've still got a couple to finish off with titles etc) I'll upload them.

Happy St Davids Day !

A happy St Davids day to you all !!! and for the Welsh speakers, Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus i bawb.

I've not been very good lately posting to my blog. I've been quite busy trying to prepare photos etc for a retreat I'm off to at the week-end.
Here's a little something to be getting on with.
Made this card for a friend of mine who was celebrating her 65th birthday last week.
