Two post in one day !

Wow two posts in one day, not sure what's come over me !
I thought I might as well finish the uploading of the retreat classes LO's.

This one was very difficult to photograph as the middle square is acetate.This class was by Lou Stevenson and used October Afternoon Seaside Collection. Again there was a choice here....you could put the extra photos in a little book down the left hand side or you could adhere them separately as I have done here

I also started this Lo at the retreat in the free cropping time. I didn't get to finish it as I was too busy chatting,drinking coffee and shopping ! So I finished it off today.This wasn't a class but I had made a few kits up myself together with a pile of photos to do in my spare time. The rest of the kits are in tact to use at a later date !!!

A couple more Retreat Layouts.

Here's another of the classes we had at Sarah's retreat together with photos of the make and take.

This is a class by Vanessa Stokoe using the Cosmo Cricket together range of papers.
You had a choice of making this as a 8½ x 11 or as a 12x12. I chose the 12 x 12 as I only scrap in 12 x 12. I was really pleased with this, the papers are made for these photos I think. It's so vibrant in colour to match the photos. I did replace the thickers for red ones as the reddy/pinky ones that were supplied really didn't go with the photos, purely because Charlie's T shirt is sooooo red



There was two make and take tables. On the first one was this lovely little Monogram 2.5" x 4" project.Used a Maya Road misting spray in irridescent on the black flower and another greeny coloured one on the monogram. Both gave a lovely sheen/colour but it's not that clear on the photos but gorgeous in reality.



The second make and take had these fabby little kits made by My Minds Eye, all manufactured as pre punched sheets,pop them out and voila you have a layout. You had samples of a 6 x 6 8½ x 11 or 12 x 12. They all worked equally well with whichever size you made. Fab piece of kit to speed scrap I think. I choose to do a " white" space LO using a 12 x 12 kraft coloured cardstock. Suited this photo of Molly as there wasn't anything special about the photo, just one that you would just snap and we've all got some of them.

I've now just got one more layout to finally finish off so planning on sorting that one out today.

Rainy Tuesday !

It's a horrible,dark, rainy Tuesday here. Hope it's a bit better where you are !
Even in the conservatory it quite dark so please excuse the rather naff photo of this 3rd LO from the Kit.
This is another photo of my Mum with my grandparents. Again I'm guessing the year it was taken. Around 1912 I would imagine as my mother doesn't look much older than about 12 - 18 months old.
Do remember to date your photos on the back of any you take,for future generations. There's no one below my generation that is still alive to ask these things and it can get very frustrating....so remember date those photographs !!

The original photo was quite small and increasing the size for printing made it a bit blurry so I scanned it at the original size and used that.I don't ever use originals for my scrapbooking. Problem was it would then have got a bit lost on the LO. To make it stand out a bit more I welded a frame from some scrolls that are on the Cricut Elegant Cakes cart. The cart is meant for cake makers but you can also use them on the expression.


Here are some close ups of the flowers I made. I did use the odd small prima but most of them are hand made.




I'm off to London tomorrow to see the Wizard of Oz with both DD's, Emily, Molly and Jack. Charlie is a bit young just yet so he's staying at home with his Daddy and Sophie. We're having lunch at the Rainforest Cafe before going to the matinee performance....that should be fun ! I'm crossing my fingers that the rain will have gone by then !

Retreat LO's

At last I have got round to finishing the odd bits than needed doing on these LO's that we made at the recent Sarah's Card Retreat.
The first one was a lovely messy class by Lou, tearing & inking everything in sight, love the idea of the ribbled strip across the bottom.


The second one by Jen was also a fab class, gorgeous papers & a little book on the LO, ideal for multi photos events. I haven't stuck my photos of a holiday in Lake Garda yet.......I need to find them first !!!



The third is one of my favourites, all girly & pretty colours. This one was by Rachael E. I think this LO colour wise, was made for this photo of Jack at a family BBQ surrounded by girls ( his cousins ) in pink !!



Just adding this one too. I bought a page kit at the retreat, loved the paper as it was so vibrant & colourful, just the thing for this photo of Carys & family in Florida 18 months ago.

Sarah's Cards Retreat Layouts

Finally I have taken a couple of photos of the LO's I've finished so far from the retreat.
This one is from Sarah Palmers Class.I had just the right photos for this one so it's just like the instructions apart from the " so cute" title.You could have used two separate LO's but I chose to end up with a double LO of the same event. There were various techniques used,two of them being painting & sewing. Although I stamped my title rather than sew it (lazy me). I liked the idea of dipping a plastic beaker into the paint and stamping the white circles on kraft card. I've never done a 8½" x 11" LO before and I wasn't sure about it at all! I have enough trouble adjusting things to an 8 x 8 LO as I normally scrap 12 x 12 but at least it's still a square one. Well I needn't have worried as I just love this size and I can see me making a few more of them in the future. On the plus side you can scan them which saves faffing about with the camera but on the minus side, I don't have that size albums at the moment.....Oh dear can see another shopping trip coming up now !!.





This one was Lianne's " Tree of Life Class" absolutley loved this class. I don't normally hit the right notes when I try and do a " white space" LO, they never seem quite right somehow but I was thrilled with this one, the photo helped too as it's a beautiful photo of Molly taken by Cheryl from Feelgoodphotos.com in November of last year.
The tree was cut out of the template that was supplied and I never knew you could use so many journalling cards on one LO.....don't they look fab all layered?



As well as the classes we also had some time for cropping,this is one LO that I made after class on the Friday night....well the only one I made all over the week-end really! I just dithered between the Saturday classes getting things ready for the next class to be honest. I don't do this cropping on the move lark but I could get used to it pretty quick if I had a week-end like the last one to enjoy.




Need to get back to my fab mini book that Cathy taught now, finish the one on the go and then make another by Sunday as they're Mother's day gifts to both DD's from the children.

A fab week-end

Well the title says it all really! Last Friday I drove up to Warrington to spend the week-end with 70 other like minded ( scrappers) people. The retreat was organized by Sarah's Cards Ltd, here's the link to Sarah's website here

It was an absolutely fantastic week-end. great Hotel,amazing classes, it was so well organized and I met so many lovely friendly people, all but one of them I had only" talked" to them on line through UKS. All in all a great week-end and I can't wait until Sarah announces the next one.
